Lorraine Brancale (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph Hill/ NYU) and sophomore
Nicole Bell (Branchville, NJ / Sussex County Technical) competed at the 2014 NCAA Cross Country Northeast Regional Championship this afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park and featured 275 participants.
Today marked the second time this season that the Seahawks have run at Van Cortlandt Park this season, having finished third at the
METS Championships (5k) earlier this fall. The NCAA Northeast Regional course was more challenging for the runners this afternoon as the course was stretched to a 6K.
Brancale placed 112th with a time of 22.15.04 and a pace of 5:20 while Bell finished 172nd with a mark of 23:08.63 and a pace of 5:59. Brancale and Bell were the only Wagner competitors in a meet that featured both teams and individuals, all attempting to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Iona won the team competition, with junior Kate Avery delivering the day's fastest time of 19:49.45, as she was one of three Gaels to place in the top six.
