Seahawks Fall 1-0 at Saint Francis U In NEC Opener

Loretto, PA – The Wagner women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Saint Francis U on Friday in the Northeast Conference (NEC) opener for both teams.
 
Allison LaDuke scored the game's lone goal in the 66th minute when she scored on a breakaway goal after receiving a feed from Mackenize Walker. The Red Flash owned an 18-6 edge in shots and led in corner kicks by an 8-2 margin.
 
Red Flash goalkeeper Lexie Mirenda recorded three saves while Seahawk fifth-year senior keeper Katie Marcy (Bellmore, NY / John F. Kennedy) made five stops in goal.
 
Sophomore defender Amanda Buck (Bay Shore, NY / Islip) was credited with two of Wagner's six shots, one of which was on goal.
 
With the loss, the Green & White saw their season record fall to 4-6-1 (0-1 NEC) while Saint Francis U is now 1-9-2 overall, 1-0 in league play.
 
The Green & White complete their two-game Western Pennsylvania stretch on Sunday, October 5 in a 12:00 pm contest before playing their NEC home opener on Friday, October 10 vs. Mount St. Mary's in a 7:00 pm start at Hameline Field. The Mount game kick-starts a three-game home swing that includes matches vs. Bryant on Sunday, October 12 and is capped with a matchup vs. Central Connecticut on Sunday, October 19. Both of these contests are 1:00 pm starts.
