Wagner Wins Fourth Straight With 6-1 Victory At Rider

Lawrenceville, NJ - The Wagner women's tennis team was victorious in four of five singles matches and two of three doubles matches in posting a 6-1 non-conferece victory at Rider on Thursday.

In registering their fourth consecutive victory, the Seahawks improve to 4-1 on the season while the Broncs fall to 0-6.

In singles play,  junior Marina Rull Valvieso (Barcelona, Spain / IES Antony Cumella / Tarleton State) won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 while sophomore Sarah Dionisio (East Yaphank, NY / Longwood) logged a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3. Sophomore Madison Pautsch (Costa Mesa, CA / Edison) claimed a hard-fought 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 4 while senior Rachel Jurgielewicz (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown East) captured a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 5 singles spot.

The Green & White came out on top in two of the three doubles matches when Rull Valvieso and Pautsch recorded a 6-1 win at second doubles while Jurgielewicz and junior Jenna Harris (Fountain Hills, AZ / Fountain Hills) capped the doubles events with a 6-2 win at No. 3.

The lone win for the Broncs came at first singles where Alison Noll defeated freshman Samantha Hodges (Encinitas, CA / San Dieguito Academy) 6-0, 6-1 which improved her record to 5-1 on the season.

Today's match concludes Wagner's fall season as the Seahawks are next in action on Saturday, February 7 when the Green & White begin their spring championship season vs. Colgate with first serve slated for 12:00 pm.
