Tonight's game was a special evening as it was the teams' annual Breast Cancer Awareness game in collaboration with the
American Cancer Association. and also featured am inspiring pre-game speech by former Rutgers standout football player
Eric LeGrand, the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance at the 2012
ESPYs.
With the win, the Seahawks move to the .500 mark at 6-6-1 (2-1-0 NEC), while the Mountaineers fall to 1-12-0 overall, 0-2 in league play.
Junior forward
Johanna Konrad (Volkach, Germany / LSH) scored the lone goal of the game in the 61st minute when she slipped by the goalie and tapped the ball into the back of the net for her fourth goal of the year.
"We were able to come away with a good conference win," said head coach
Mike Minielli. "We were not able to find our rhythm the entire game, but were able to get the 1-0 victory heading into another key NEC match on Sunday against Bryant."
The Green & White outshot Mount St. Mary's by a 10-7 count.
Fifth-year senior goalkeeper
Katie Marcy (Bellmore, NY / John F. Kennedy) recorded two saves in posting her fifth shutout of the season.
The Green & White will return to action Sunday, October 12 when they host the Bryant Bulldogs in a 1:00 p.m. start at Hameline Field.
