Archambault Scores 1,000th Career Point; Seahawks Fall To Robert Morris

Moon Township, PA - Senior Marie-Laurence Archambault (Montreal, Quebec/ Montmorency) scored her 1,000th career point, and led the Seahawks with 19 points, but the Wagner College women's basketball team fell to Robert Morris, 57-39, at the Sewall Center on Saturday afternoon. In the defeat, Wagner falls to 2-20 overall and 1-10 in the NEC, while Robert Morris improves to 6-16 and 5-6 in conference play.

Archambault became the Seahawks' 23rd 1,000-point scorer at the 9:07 mark of the first half, giving her 11 for the game and 1,002 for her Wagner career. She finished today's game at 1,010 points during her time on Grymes Hill.

The Colonials jumped out to a 16-5 lead in the first eight minutes before Wagner evened things up. After pulling within 24-18, Archambault hit a pair of threes – her fourth and fifth of the half – to knot the game at 24. Robert Morris scored five of the opening stanza's last seven points to take a 29-26 lead into the locker room.

Wagner shot 39.1% from the floor in the first half, and was even with the Colonials on the boards with 19.

Robert Morris separated itself from the Seahawks in the early second half, as a 15-3 run in a scrappy, defensive battle over the half's first 10 minutes gave the Colonials a 44-29 lead.

RMU's Artemis Spanou led all scorers with a career-high 32 points, to go along with 18 rebounds. Four Seahawks grabbed five or more rebounds – senior Veronick Fournier (Gatineau, Quebec) pulled down eight, while freshman Jordyn Peck (Shaker Heights, OH/ Shaker Heights) and senior Chanez Robinson (Newark, NJ/ Shabazz) had six each, and Archambault had five.

The Seahawks return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 7:00 pm, when the Green & White host Mount St. Mary's at Spiro Sports Center.
