Philadelphia, PA – The Seahawks scored five first quarter goals on the way to knocking off George Washington 15-10 in the opening game of the MAAC/CWPA Crossover. Freshman
Lily Doerfler (Annapolis, MD / Broadneck) scored three of her five goals in the first quarter and sophomore
Jessica Burdge (Stockton, CA / St. Mary's) added three more as Wagner improved to 6-3 on the season.
Megan Rodriguez (Danville, CA / San Ramon Valley) found Doerfler for the first goal of the game, then went on to find
Michelle Greenough (Davis, CA / Davis) for another goal, before adding yet another assist to Doerfler in the period. The freshman Rodriguez finished the game with a career-high seven assists.
Wagner took an 8-4 lead going into the half before a big third quarter. The Seahawks started to run away with it in the third, scoring four goals and only allowing one to the Colonials. Sophomore
Rachel Burns (Greenlane, Auckland, New Zealand / Diocesan School for Girls) found Doerfler on two more goals in the period as the Seahawks took a 12-5 lead going into the fourth.
Kaylee Ginnane (Tampa, FL / Coronado, CA) rebounded a shot in the fourth and scored her first goal of the season. For the game, senior goalie
Laura Karbach (Abington, PA / Germantown Academy) stopped 12 shots while adding one steal.
The 6-3 Seahawks have two games remaining in the MAAC/CWPA Crossover. Wagner will take on Harvard at 3:00 pm on Feb. 23, before a Sunday morning contest against Princeton at 11:30 am.
