Philadelphia, PA – Despite a close game throughout, the Seahawks were able to prevail and knock off Harvard, 10-8, in the second game of the MAAC/CWPA Crossover. Freshman
Jess Lundgren (Queensland, Australia / Mountain Creek) led the way for Wagner, scoring four goals and adding two assists while helping the Seahawks improve to 7-3.
Lundgren scored the first Wagner goal after senior
Katie Jordan (Westlake Village, CA / Agoura) found her in the first quarter. Sophomore
Rachel Burns (Greenlane, Auckland, New Zealand / Diocesan School for Girls) then added two consecutive goals from
Laura Karbach (Abington, PA / Germantown Academy) and
Jessica Burdge (Stockton, CA / St. Mary's) as Wagner went to the second quarter up 4-3.
In the second, the Seahawks out-scored the Crimson 3-2 off of goals from Burdge, Lundgren, and Burns. The Green and White matched Harvard in the third and fourth quarters, as both teams scored twice, and once each, respectfully.
Burns added three goals for Wagner while Burdge had two goals and two assists. Freshman
Megan Rodriguez (Danville, CA / San Ramon Valley) also scored a goal for Wagner on the game. Karbach had double digit blocks between the pipes once again, finishing with 10 saves and one assist.
Wagner will now wait for an 11:30 am game against Princeton, in their final bout of the MAAC/CWPA Crossover. The 7-3 Seahawks will try to avenge a 16-8 loss to the #12 Tigers that came last weekend in the Bucknell Invitational.
