Manhattan Defeats Wagner 5-2

Results

Staten Island, NY -
The Seahawk  women's tennis team was dealt a 5-2 loss by Manhattan in non-conference action at the Wagner Tennis Courts on Columbus Day.

The Jaspers improve to 3-1 with the win while the Green & White falls to 3-2.

Wagner opened the match by capturing the doubles point as the Seahawks won at No. 3 by default, before freshmen Sarah Dionisio (East Yaphank, NY / Longwood) and Madison Pautsch (Costa Mesa, CA / Edison) posted an 8-5 victory at No. 2.

Unfortunately, the lead would be short-lived as Manhattan would go on to claim five of the six singles matches. Junior Rachel Jurgielewicz (Downingtown, PA / Downingtown East) claimed the lone Seahawk win at No. 4 to highlight the Green & White effort. After losing the first set by a 6-3 count, the Keystone State native battled back to claim the last two sets by scores of 6-2 and 7-5.

Wagner will conclude the fall portion of its schedule with a non-conference match at Monmouth on Wednesday, October 16 at 2:30 pm.
