The Wagner Seahawks will look to ride the momentum gained by their stirring 23-20 win at Sacred Heart last week when they travel to the Steel City to meet the Dukes of Duquesne in a 1:00 pm NEC clash this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The last time these teams met was on Nov. 17, 2012 on Staten Island. With the NEC Championship on the line, the Seahawks pulled out a 23-17 win to claim their first-ever NEC title.

Maley's Game-Winning FG Caps 23-20 win at Sacred Heart
The Green & White rode the leg of junior kicker Bryan Maley (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak) at Sacred Heart, as the Alaska native nailed a 32-yard field goal and a pair of 45-yarders, the latter splitting the uprights with four seconds left to play, providing Wagner with the thrilling win. Maley, who was named NEC Special Teams Player of the Week, was filling in for fifth-year senior David Lopez, who suffered an ankle injury at Delaware (9/21) that has sidelined him since. Maley has big shoes to fill as Lopez was a 2010 All-NEC selection, a 2013 Preseason All-NEC pick, and ranks second on the all-time NEC field goals made list with 38.

About the Seahawks
The defending NEC Champion Seahawks, picked No. 1 in the 2013 NEC Preseason Poll and No. 24 in the 2013 Lindy's Annual Preseason Poll, are 2-4 -on the season. Wagner opened the campaign with a 28-21 come-from-behind win over Georgetown in the season opener on August 31. The following week, Wagner was edged by Merrimack in a 42-41 shoot-out on Sept. 6. Wagner was blitzed in its next three outings, by Syracuse (54-0, 9/14), Delaware (49-9, 9/21) and Bryant (47-28, 9/28), before taking a 20-3 lead at Sacred Heart and then pulling out the 23-20 win on Maley's game-winning kick.

Dominique Is Unique
The Seahawks are led by 5-9, 205-pound senior running back Dominique Williams, a tough, sturdy and elusive back, who one who enters the Duquesne game ranked fourth all-time in in Wagner history in rushing yards (3,951) and third in scoring (264 points). He enters this weekend's play ranked fourth all-time in NEC history with 4,921 all-purpose yards and eighth in rushing. Williams is a 2013 College Sports Journal Preseason Third-Team All-American and a 2012 Preseason All-NEC selection. In 38 games as a Seahawk, Williams has topped the 100-yard rushing mark 25 times.  

About Duquesne
Duquesne didn't need its offense in a 27-14 win over Division II West Liberty last week.  The Dukes took control of the game by scoring three first-quarter touchdowns, two via interception returns and one on a fumble recovery.  Duquesne defenders Nick Floyd, Zach Zidian and Dane O'Driscoll all found paydirt as the Dukes, who had two September bye weeks, picked up their first victory since the Week 1 win over CAA member UAlbany.

Duquesne and Wagner will be meeting for the ninth time. In a series that began in 1992, the Seahawks and Dukes are tied 4-4 in the all-time series.

Head Coach Walt Hameline
Now in his 33rd season as head coach, Walt Hameline, who doubles as the Seahawks' athletic director, owns a sparkling 215-131-2 (.621) record. In 2012, he led the Seahawks to their first-ever Northeast Conference (NEC) Football Championship with a thrilling 23-17 come-from-behind win over Duquesne on November 17, 2012, while clinching a berth in the 2012 D-I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Championship. The win personified the Green & White's as Wagner began the campaign with three straight losses, before winning its next nine games. In defying the odds throughout its triumphant march to the school's first-ever NEC title and the conference's first-ever NCAA FCS win, Wagner compiled a 9-4 record, including a 7-1 mark in the NEC. The Seahawks finished the season ranked 21st in The Sports Network Top-25 Poll and 22nd in the FCS Coaches Poll, marking the first time an NEC team has ended the season with an appearance in both official Top-25 polls. The accolades soon began to pour in for Hameline. After being named the NEC Football Coach of the Year, he was tabbed the 2012 FCS National Coach of the Year by both College Football News (CFN) and the College Sports Journal (CSJ). In the 2012 home opener against Monmouth, Wagner College Stadium was renamed Hameline Field in his honor. On November 6, 2010, Hameline became just the eighth active FCS coach to win 200 games with a 31-20 victory over Monmouth, is 54th on the all-time NCAA wins list (any level) and one of just 36 coaches to win 200 games at one school. The 1987 Kodak National Coach of the Year, after guiding Wagner to a 13-1 record and to the Division III National Championship, Hameline currently ranks sixth in victories among all active FCS coaches.
