The Wagner College Seahawks and the Central Connecticut Blue Devils meet at newly-renovated Arute Field in New Britain, CT in the first of a five-game NEC TV schedule with each team seeking its first win in this prime-time matchup.
HOW TO FOLLOW THE GAME
The Wagner-Central Connecticut game will be a 7:00 pm kickoff and will be televised live on MSG+ and Fox College Sports. Paul Dottino will handle the play-by-play duties, former Cal quarterback Steve Levy will provide color analysis while John Schmeelk will serve as sideline reporter. HARD-LUCK SEAHAWKS SEEKING FIRST WIN OF 2012
The Wagner football team is playing some of the best defense in the land during the first two games of the season and entered last week's NEC and home opener vs. Monmouth ranked No. 10 nationally in scoring defense, yielding just 10.0 points per game. The Seahawks also rank second in the Northeast Conference in both total defense (335.3 ypg) and passing defense (149 ypg).

The Blue Devils are also 0-3 on the young season, having opened the season with a murderous stretch of three games vs. ranked foes. CCSU opened the season with a 49-17 loss to Stony Brook and has also dropped contests to Lehigh (35-14) and New Hampshire (43-10).

O'CONNOR TIED FOR NEC LEAD IN TACKLES
Senior free safety Patrick O'Connor (Leominster, MA/ Leominster) has recorded a team-best 33 tackles on the season at 11.00 tackles per game average which ties for first in the NEC and T-17th nationally. The 6-1, 190-pound O'Connor, who has been in double-digits in all three games, had 10 tackles and a fumble recovery in the season opener at Florida Atlantic (August 31) which earned him NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors. He followed up that effort with a career-high 13-tackle game at Georgetown (September 8).
HAMELINE'S DISTINGUISHED CAREER HONORED WITH HAVING FIELD NAMED AFTER HIM
In a stirring pre-game ceremony prior to kickoff of the September 15 game vs. Monmouth, the field at Wagner College Stadium was named after
Walt Hameline who is in his 32nd year as athletic director/football coach. One of just eight active Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) coach to win 200 games, he also ranks 16th all-time among FCS coaches and 18th among active NCAA coaches. Hameline, one of just eight active coaches with 200 or more wins, has an overall record of 204-125-2.
OTIS WRIGHT EARNS SPECIAL TEAMS HONORS FROM NCAA, NEC AND CFPA

Otis Wright (Fort Lauderdale, FL/ Dillard) has been named Special Teams Player of the Week by three organizations - the NCAA, the Northeast Conference (NEC) and College Football Performance Awards (CFPA), following his spectacular afternoon returning kickoffs vs. Monmouth, a day highlighted by an 89-yard touchdown return. Wright was tabbed as the NCAA.com FCS Special Teams Player of the Week, the NEC Special Teams Player of the Week and is one of four Kickoff Returner Performers of the Week named by the CFPA, along with Fabian Truss of Samford, Dartmouth's Miles Gay and Justin Grant from Richmond. Wright sparked Wagner on several occasions during what was a career day for the sophomore, totaling 189 yards on five kick returns. In addition to the 89-yarder, which came on the first play of the fourth quarter, Wright nearly broke free on several other kickoff returns, as he ripped of a 37-yarder as well as another that went for 25 yards. Wright's 89-yard kickoff return was the longest by a Seahawk since November 21, 2009 when Frantz Placide had an 89-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the season finale vs. Albany. The touchdown return by Wright was also the longest in NEC play since Central Connecticut's Josue Paul returned one 90 yards against Wagner on Oct. 30, 2010. Wright is ranked fourth nationally in kickoff returns and first in the NEC at 34.67 yards per return. As a team, the Seahawks returned seven kicks for 230 yards vs. Monmouth and rank fourth nationally and tops in the NEC with an average of 30.10.
SEASON RECAP
Game 3: Staten Island, NY - The Seahawks ran into a buzz-saw in Monmouth as QB Kyle Frazier executed to near perfection while linebacker Dan Sullivan made nine tackles to lead the Hawks to an impressive 38-17 victory. Monmouth held a 367-145 edge in total yards, including a 229-54 advantage on the ground. In addition to Hayes' 103 yards rushing, Asante added 65 yards rushing on 14 carries. Roberts led the Hawks in receiving with 58 yards on six catches. The stifling Hawk defense harassed Doscher into a five-of-17 passing day for 54 yards while being sacked four times. was sacked four times. Williams led Wagner with 47 yards rushing on eight carries.
Game 2: Washington, DC - On September 8, on a hot, humid day in Washington, DC, the Seahawks led Georgetown for the majority of the game until a late third-quarter touchdown by the Hoyas put the Hoyas on top 10-7 en route to their eventual 13-10 win. Junior RB
Dominique Williams (Bridgeton, NJ/ Milford Academy) was held to 66 yards rushing on 22 carries, snapping his streak of 100-yard games at five. Senior free safety Patrick O'Connor (Leominster, MA/ Leominster) had a career-high 13 tackles for the Seahawks to go with three pass deflections.
Game 1: Boca Raton, FL – In the season opener at Florida Atlantic, Wagner delivered a staunch defensive effort and redshirt junior running back
Dominique Williams (Bridgeton, NJ/ Bridgeton) ran for 117 yards but it was not enough as Florida Atlantic escaped with a 7-3 victory in the 2012 season opener for both teams in a game that was streamed live on ESPN 3. Wagner, which led 3-0 after three quarters before the Owls struck for an early fourth-quarter score, was playing its first-ever FBS opponent. David Lopez (Plantation, Fl / American Heritage) gave the Seahawks a 3-0 lead by converting on a 39-yard field goal with 11:13 remaining in the opening half. The Owls connected on a 39-yard TD pass early in the fourth quarter and that score stood up as neither team scored from that point forward.
