Solid Team Race Fuels Wagner At Monmouth XC Kick-Off

Junior Alexis Bivona (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) continued to build on last year's momentum by placing a team-best fourth in 14:43.6 at the 4K Monmouth University XC Kick-Off. Brittney Lane led a 1-2-3 sweep for Albany as the Great Danes easily won the team competition with 21 points. Seton Hall was second with 66 points, followed by Monmouth and Wagner in a tie for third with 74 points. St. Francis (NY) rounded out the five-team field with 128 points.

Senior Taylor Fredrickson (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) was the second Seahawk to cross the finish line, finishing 20th, including 15th among D-I runners, with a mark of 15:35.3. Sophomore Victoria Spector (Yaphank, NY / Longwood) was third on the team and 25th (17th among D-1 runners) in 15:58.9, while junior Samantha Lauro (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) finished right behind her in 26th (15:59.8).

Rounding out the scorers for Green & White was senior Kelly Dennis (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa), who finished 28th, including 20th among D-1 runners, with a time of 16:04.0.

"It was a good first meet, and hopefully we build on it," said head coach Joe Stasi.

Wagner returns to action on Saturday, September 8 when the Seahawks participate in the 6K Bryant Invitational.
