Beck Named To 2011-12 Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

2012 Capital One Academic All-District Women's At-Large First Team

Staten Island, NY – Wagner College water polo sensation Chelsea Beck (Reading, PA / Wilson), who earned her degree during last Friday's Commencement,  was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Women's At-Large First Team for the second consecutive year as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
The Capital One Academic All-District Team recognizes exceptional scholar-athletes who excel in both academics and athletics. By virtue of her being voted to the All-District Team, Beck's name is automatically placed on the ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America team.
 
In the classroom, the education and psychology major posted a cumulative GPA of 3.981, tops among all Seahawk female student-athletes. At the Senior Awards Banquet on May 1, Beck was granted the ECAC Merit Award which goes to the female graduating Wagner student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA. In addition, Beck was named to the All- Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Academic Team in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

"Chelsea has done just a great job for us both in the pool and out of the pool," said Seahawk head coach Chris Radmonovich, who completed his second season at the helm of the Wagner program in 2012.
 
In helping to guide the 2012 team to a 20-18 record and an appearance in the MAAC Championship game, Beck totaled a whopping 130 points on a team-high 85 goals to go with 45 assists, which was third on the team, as she was named t he (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Year. An All-MAAC First-Team choice for the second straight year, Beck also had 108 steals and 45 drawn exclusions. During her outstanding 132-game Seahawk career, Beck established school records with 152 assists and 294 steals while her 228 goals placed her third on the all-time list.

Beck, who was named the 2011 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Defensive Player of the Year, led the nation in steals last year with 105 while leading the team in goals (65), assists (53) and points (118). As the 2011 leading scoring for the Seahawks, Beck also garnered All-MAAC First Team accolades.
 
In 2010, Beck earned a spot on the All-MAAC Second Team.
