Beck Scores 200th Career Goal in 19-6 Win Over St. Francis (N.Y.)

New Rochelle, NY – Eleven different Seahawks scored in a stellar 19-5 win over St. Francis (N.Y.) as the Wagner water polo team improved to a 3-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) record.

With the first goal of the game, senior co-captain Chelsea Beck (Reading, PA / Wilson) knocked in her 200th career goal to become just the fourth Seahawk to reach or surpass the 200-goal milestone.  Joining Billy Hoelck (343), Stacey Travous (230) and Courtney Crase (200) on the 200-goal list, Beck is now ranked third on Wagner's all-time goals list with a total of 203.

Not holding on to her even goal count of 200 for long, Beck hit number 201 a few minutes later off an assist from freshman Rachel Burns (Greenlane, Auckland, New Zealand / Diocesan School for Girls).  Following an exclusion drawn by senior co-captain Lauren French (Colmar, PA / North Penn), Burns found the back of the net herself in the man-up opportunity.

Allowing four Terrier goals in the first quarter, Wagner knocked in two more points with one goal each from the captain duo of French and Beck to set the score at 5-4.

Holding St. Francis (N.Y.) to one lone goal in the second period, Wagner went on a seven goal scoring frenzy to fashion the score at 12-5 at the half.  Senior Molly Robinson (Lansdale, PA / North Penn) hit back-to-back goals off of assists from Becca Hannings (Lansdale, PA / North Penn) and Burns to start the Green & White scoring run.

Following a scoring attempt from the Terriers, junior goalkeeper Laura Karbach (Abington, PA / Germantown Academy) fed a pass to sophomore Stacy McGregor (Sinking Spring, PA / Wilson) who knocked in Wagner's eighth point of the match.

The Seahawks put four more second period points on the board with two back-to-back goals from French and one goal each from Hannings and sophomore Sidney Hoshko (Coronado, CA / Coronado).

Leading the game 12-5 entering the third quarter, the Wagner defense held the Terriers scoreless throughout the eight minutes of play while finding the back of the net three more times.

Junior Katie Jordan (Westlake Village, CA / Agoura) started the Seahawk scoring run when she found Burns open in front of the net as the New Zealand native increased the Wagner lead by eight.  Following an exclusion drawn by Robinson, Beck fed a pass to Kaylee Ginnane (Tampa, FL / Coronado, CA) who capitalized on the man-up opportunity.  Rounding out the third period scoring, Robinson fed a lead pass to Beck who placed her fourth goal of the game between the pipes.

With the score set at 15-5, the final eight minutes saw one more Terrier goal as four more Wagner points were added to the scoreboard.

Sophomore Ashton Cline (Carlisle, PA / Cumberland Valley) increased the Seahawk lead by 11 with her first goal of the game.  Off an assist from Robinson, Hoshko sent her second goal of the game past the Terrier defense to set the score at 17-5.  As St. Francis (N.Y.) tried to counter-attack the Wagner goal, sophomore Tatum Colitz (Wyomissing, PA / Wilson) stole the ball away from the Terrier offense and went on to knock in her first point of the season.  Following a Terrier goal, Maura McGinley (King of Prussia, PA / Upper Merio) sent a pass to Colitz who placed the final goal of the game in the net as Wagner captured the 19-6 victory.

Karbach recorded 10 blocks, one assist and two steals in the win as senior Lauren Lovallo (Greenwich, CT / Greenwich) registered three blocks.

Wagner is back in action at 4:30 PM when the Seahawks take on the Wildcats of Villanova.
