A MESSAGE FROM THE WAGNER FOOTBALL TEAM

COMMENTS ON EVE OF GAME FROM WALT HAMELINE

Staten Island, NY –
The Wagner College Seahawks (7-3, 6-1 NEC) will host Duquesne (5-5, 3-4 NEC) in a Senior Day regular season finale at Hameline Field on Saturday at Noon in a game that will decide the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship and the league's NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) automatic bid.

Both Wagner, which is vying for its first-ever appearance in the FCS Playoffs, and Albany are tied at 6-1 in the league and are the only two teams left with a chance at the title If Wagner gets past Duquesne, which will be in the role of spoiler on Saturday, the Seahawks will earn the conference's automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Division I Football Championship. For Albany to clinch the bid, it would need to beat Central Connecticut at home on Saturday AND have the Dukes defeat the Seahawks.

If the Seahawks defeat Duquesne, Wagner fans will be able to watch the NCAA Division I Football Championship Selection Show live on Sunday at 1:30 pm on ESPNU as the 20-team field and brackets are announced.

There are still tickets remaining for this potentially historic contest and they can be accessed by clicking HERE or by calling the ticket office at 718-420-4039.

This is the eighth all-time meeting between the Seahawks and Dukes. In a series that began in 1992. Duquesne holds a slim 4-3 edge. Duquesne won last year's meeting in the iron City by a 37-21 count and has won the previous two meetings. The last time the Seahawks knocked off the Dukes was in 2009 when Wagner came away with a 23-17 double-overtime win in Pittsburgh.

27 SENIORS TO BE HONORED IN PRE-GAME CEREMONY
Senior Day is always a special tradition on Grymes Hill and this year's class will be honored in a pre-game ceremony at midfield. An unusually large class, comprised of 27 student-athletes, this core group of players has been consistently praised all season by head coach Walt Hameline and his staff for their leadership and steely resolve. It was the seniors who were paramount in the 2012 team's turnaround, reversing an 0-3 start with seven straight wins and an opportunity to claim Wagner's first NEC Title. The 27 Seahawk seniors are: OL Brendan Byrne, LB Theodore Clohessy , WR David Crawford, QB Nick Doscher, WR Danny Ford, OL Chris Furner, FB Kenny Howard, DL Adams Issaka, LB Tom Klepper, TE Drew Ledet, LB Mike Lombardo, PK David Lopez , DB Matt McGuinness, DL Jake Meier, LB Mike Milone, OL Tyler Moyers , DB Pat O'Connor, LB Kevin Orender, OL Sean Pearson , DB Torian Phillips, LB C.O. Prime, WR Darnell Sapps, WR Justin Sciarra, TE Joe Sidaras , DB Sidiq Soulemana, DL Jerome Williams

DOSCHER ON VERGE OF MAKING HISTORY OF HIS OWN ON SATURDAY
*Entering the Duquesne game, senior QB Nick Doscher (Staten Island, NY/ Moore Catholic) is just 129 yards shy of becoming Wagner's all-time passing leader. John Sciarra, passed for 5,902 career yards from 2004-05 while Doscher checks in with 5,774 career passing yards.

Doscher is also four touchdown passes shy of tying Don Cavalli (1958-61) in all-time TD passes. Cavalli threw 46 career TDs while Doscher has thrown 42.

The 6-1, 225-pound Doscher, who has thrown a remarkable 174 straight passes without an interception, has already made a major mark in the Seahawk record book. He enters the Duquesne game ranked No. 1 all-time in total offense (7,855) and No. 2 in passing yards (5,774), TD passes (42) and completions (425). He is also ninth all-time in career rushing with 2,081 yards.

BATTLE OF THE BACKS
The Wagner-Duquesne game will feature a matchup of two of the best running backs in recent NEC history in Seahawk junior Dominique Williams and Duquesne senior Larry McCoy. Williams enters the contest as the only back who has eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark as he has totaled 1,064 yards which, over 10 games, computes to a 106.4-yard average per game that ranks fourth in the league. With one season eligibility remaining, Williams has gained 3,044 career yards and has scored 33 TDs (32 rushing, one receiving). The 5-9, 200-pound Williams is averaging 5.3 yards per carry. McCoy, meanwhile, tops the league in yards per game at 110.6 as he has run for 995 yards in nine games. The bruising 5-10, 226-pound McCoy has totaled 4,474 yards during his prolific career and has scored 36 TDs.

SEAHAWKS RECEIVING VOTES IN BOTH MAJOR POLLS
Wagner's winning ways, highlighted by the eye-opening 30-0 victory at No. 18 Albany on November 3, are being noticed by many influential people involved in college football, including conference and collegiate officials who comprise The Sports Network Top-25 Poll as well as the coaches who vote in the NCAA Football FCS Coaches Poll. The Seahawk have overcome challenges that include an 0-3 start, and a campus without electricity or hot water leading up to the Albany game. Despite these obstacles, the Seahawks are ranked 34th in The Sports Network Top-25 Poll with 29 votes and 33rd in the FCS Coaches Poll with six votes.

WAGNER WITH JUST ONE TURNOVER IN LAST SEVEN GAMES
Against Holy Cross, Wagner's remarkable string of games without a turnover ended at six on a fumble by QB Nick Doscher with 9:02 left in the third quarter.  The last turnover committed by the Green & White prior to Saturday was way back on September 15 vs. Monmouth with 8:27 left in the fourth quarter when the Hawks picked off a pass thrown by junior QB Kramer Berg. The 38-17 loss to Monmouth put Wagner in a 0-3 hole to start the season. Wagner righted the ship in week four with a win at Central Connecticut (31-13) and it's been off the races ever since for the Seahawks.

DOSCHER 174 STRAIGHT PASSES WITHOUT AN INT
Equally remarkable, senior QB Nick Doscher (Staten Island, NY/ Moore Catholic) has now thrown 174 passes without an interception as he played his ninth consecutive interception-free game against Holy Cross. The 174 straight passes without an interception has spanned 9.5 games (23 consecutive quarters). Incredibly, Doscher has not thrown an interception since the season opener at Florida Atlantic on August 31. With Wagner leading 3-0 in what would in an eventual 7-3 loss, Doscher was picked off in the end zone on a third-and-goal with 3:42 remaining in the first half against the Owls. It was his 10th pass attempt of the season
