Former Seahawk Cam Gill Crowned UFL Champion with the Louisville Kings

WASHINGTON, D.C. Capping off an illustrious season, former Seahawk standout Cam Gill was crowned a champion on Saturday as the Louisville Kings defeated the DC Defenders, 27-20, in the United Bowl to capture the UFL championship in the team's inaugural season. In the contest, Gill recorded three solo tackles and one tackle for loss.

The Louisville Kings claimed the United Bowl championship after a remarkable season turnaround, finishing strong with an 8-1 record over their final nine games following an 0-3 start. Battling early adversity, Louisville quickly regrouped and found its rhythm on both sides of the ball, building momentum through the middle stretch of the season. That surge carried into the postseason, where the Kings continued their dominant play and secured the UFL championship in the team's inaugural season.

Recently named the 2026 UFL Defensive Player of the Year and MVP finalist, Gill was an instrumental piece in Louisville's championship run throughout the season. The former Seahawk was a consistent disruptor, helping set the tone for a defense that played a pivotal role in securing the title. On the season, Gill had three multi-sack games to lead the league and set a new UFL single-season record with 10.0 sacks, while also recording a league-leading 12 tackles for loss. He also added 39 tackles, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

A 2020 graduate of Wagner and one of the program's most decorated players, Gill earned STATS Perform FCS First Team All-America honors, was named a HERO Sports FCS Second Team All-American and an Associated Press Third Team All-American, while also garnering All-ECAC First Team recognition. He also competed in the prestigious East-West Shrine Bowl following the 2019 season.

The Douglasville, Ga., native became just the fifth player in NEC history to repeat as the league's Defensive Player of the Year and concluded his collegiate career as the NEC's all-time leader with 34 sacks. During the 2019 season, Gill led the conference with 9.5 sacks while totaling 20 tackles for loss and 60 tackles in 12 games. He also received an invitation to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and was a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, presented annually to the top defensive player in the FCS.

Gill went on to spend four seasons in the NFL, appearing in 50 games and recording 51 tackles. He was also a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Super Bowl LV championship team in 2021.
