Staten Island, NY -
The Wagner College women's basketball team takes to the road for the first time in the 2012-2013 campaign, as the Seahawks travel into Manhattan for a Wednesday night showdown with Columbia of the Ivy League.

Wagner looks to rebound after a narrow 65-62 loss to Army to open the season this past Friday night. Senior Marie-Laurence Archambault (Montreal, Quebec/ Montmorency) played all 40 minutes for the Green & White, leading Wagner offensively with 17 points, including a 5-for-7 effort from outside the arc. Two other Seahawks were in double figures in the contest, as sophomore Stephanie Blais (Sherbrooke, Quebec/ Montmorency) added 13 points and senior Chanez Robinson (Newark, NJ/ Shabazz (Northeastern)) chipped in 12. Coming off the bench, freshman Jordyn Peck (Shaker Heights, OH/ Shaker Heights) scored nine points in her collegiate debut, while sophomore Ugo Nwaigwe (Valley Stream, NY/ Valley Stream South) grabbed six rebounds.

The contest is Columbia's third in six days to start the season and second against an NEC opponent. The Lions fell at home to LIU Brooklyn on Friday, 53-42, before being edged by Vermont, 46-40, on Sunday afternoon in Burlington. Senior Tyler Simpson has paced Columbia in each of the team's first two contests in the young season, scoring 13.0 points per game. Sophomore Caitlyn Unsworth has been second in scoring in both games so far, and sits at 8.5 points per game entering Wednesday's contest. Fellow senior Brittany Simmons has led the team on the boards with 6.5 rebounds per game, and 6-1 junior Courtney Bradford has defended in the paint, tallying six blocks in the Lions' first two contests.

Wednesday night's game begins a string of four straight road games for the Green & White, who travel to Pitt (Nov. 20), play Lehigh in a neutral site contest at Monmouth's campus in West Long Branch, NJ (Nov. 23), and take on Lafayette at Lehigh's campus in Bethlehem, PA (Nov. 25). The latter two games are part of the 2012 Patriot League/NEC Challenge.
