Bronx, NY - Junior
Alexis Bivona (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) placed 23rd with a mark of 19:45.00 at the annual 5K METS Championship at historic Van Cortlandt Park, while pacing Wagner for the fourth-straight meet to start the year.
Columbia bested the 12-team field with 18 points with Mallory Anderson of the Lions topping all 123 runners with a mark of 18:14.99. Rutgers was second (66 points), followed by Fordham (79 points), NYU (84 points) with the Seahawks (192 points) in fifth. Seton Hall (197 points) was sixth, St. John's (206 points) seventh, Manhattan (208 points), St. Francis (NY) (245 points) ninth, Hofstra (240 points) 10th, Fairleigh Dickinson (324 points) 11th and Saint Peter's (360 points) 12th.
Following Bivona was freshman
Laynee Viniotis (Bellevue, WA / Sammamish), who took second on team and 50th overall in 20:37.11.
Junior
Samantha Lauro (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) was the next Wagner harrier to cross the line, finishing 54th with a time of 20:43.60. Senior
Taylor Fredrickson (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) placed 55th (20:46.96), with freshman
Danielle Iacampo (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) rounding out the scorers for the Seahawks in 57th (20:52.11).
Wagner returns to action next Saturday, October 13 when the Seahawks travel to Fairfield, CT, for the Father O'Neil Invitational.
