Taylor Fredrickson (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) and sophomore
Alexis Bivona (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) paced Wagner for the third-straight time to start the year while propelling the Seahawks to a fourth-place finish at the 5K Ted Owen Invitational.
Fredrickson was the third Northeast Conference (NEC) harrier to cross the line, taking 14th with a time of 19:06. Bivona finished two spots behind her in 16th place while accruing a mark of 19:11.
Not far back of those two was the sophomore duo of
Cameo Kirk (Ocean Port, NJ / Shore Regional) and
Samantha Lauro (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa). Kirk was 25th in 19:40 with Lauro taking 27th with a time of 19:47.
Rounding out the scorers for the Green & White was freshman
Victoria Spector (Yaphank, NY / Longwood). The rookie runner finished 33rd in 20:05.
Wagner's fourth-place finish represented a balanced team effort as all five scorers finished within a minute of each other.
Marist's Michelle Gaye captured in the individual title, winning in a time of 18:04 while leading the Red Foxes (55) to the team title. Rhode Island (56) was second followed by UConn (99), Wagner (115), Central Connecticut State (119), Northeastern (160), Bryant (165), Hartford (179), American International (237) and Fairleigh Dickinson (275).
The Seahawks return to action on Friday, October 7 with their participation in the METS Championships at Van Cortland Park.
