Seahawks Blanked By Rider, 5-0

The Wagner College women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season today, falling to Rider 5-0 in Lawrenceville, NJ.

The Broncs jumped all over the visiting Green & White, scoring their first goal in the second minute of the game, and adding their second mark in the 35th minute. The Seahawks were outshot 16-3 in the opening half as only Jackie Nicholas (Rockville Centre, NY / South Side) and Alissa Bianculli (Islip, NY / Saint Anthony's) recorded shots.

Rider added three more in the second half, including their last goal with one second remaining, to close the door on the Seahawks, 5-0. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Marcy (Bellmore, NY / John F. Kennedy) recorded a career-high 12 saves in the loss.

With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 4-1-1 while the Broncs improved to 4-2-1. The Green & White will take to the field next on Friday, September 16, when they host Drexel in a 4:00 p.m. start.
