Women's Golf In Fourth After Day One Of Monmouth Invitational

Lakewood, NJ –
Senior Allison Amador's (Middle Island, NY) top-three score of 81 leads the Wagner women's golf team to a fourth place spot in the 2011 Monmouth Hawk Invitational, being played at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood, NJ.  

Amador's opening round nine-over par score places her in a tie for third place individually in the event, while the Seahawks' four-member score of 347 has the team just 11 strokes off the lead.

The underclassmen group consisting of freshman Ellen Huffman (Lima, OH), and sophomores Keri Muse (Sterling, VA) and Miko Page (Brooklyn, NY) have the team positioned for a strong second day. Huffman posted an 87, putting her in a tie for 11th individually, while Muse and Page each shot first round totals of 89 and 90, respectively.

Just one stroke behind Page is senior captain Dena Smith (Highland Heights, OH) who posted a 91 on day one, rounding out the Seahawks five-member roster.

Long Island University and Hofstra University are the team leaders after the opening 18, checking in with a four-person score of 336. The host group, Monmouth Hawks, is just three shots off the pace with a 339.

Wagner will tee off tomorrow morning in the second and final round of the Hawks Invitational.
