Bronx, NY – Led by sophomore
Alexis Bivona (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa), Wagner finished sixth at the 2011 5K Metropolitan Conference (METS) Cross Country Championships at historic Van Cortland Park.
Bivona paced a contingent of seven Seahawk harriers in placing 25th overall with a time of 19:20 while bettering her 2010 mark at the same course by 29 seconds. Click

Sophomore
Cameo Kirk (Ocean Port, NJ / Shore Regional) was second on the team and 34th overall in 19:44. Kirk, like Bivona, bettered her performance from a year ago, shaving off nearly three minutes in the process.
A third sophomore,
Samantha Lauro (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) crossed the line next for the Green & White, finishing 42nd with a mark of 19:58.
Placing fourth on the team and 50th overall was junior
Taylor Fredrickson (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville), recording a time of 20:10.
Rounding out the scorers for Wagner was freshman
Heather Wolf (Pine Brook, NJ / Montville Township) as the rookie finished 74th in 20:43.
Columbia collected the team title with 37 points while Rutgers' Brianna Deming was the individual winner with a time of 18:05. The Scarlet Knights were second (52 points) followed by St. John's (99 points), Fordham (107 points), NYU (121 points) with the Seahawks (193 points) in sixth. Manhattan (225 points) was seventh followed by Hofstra (245 points), Southern Connecticut State (249 points), St. Francis (NY) (253 points), Seton Hall (304 points), St. Peter's (344 points) and Fairleigh Dickinson (391 points).
Wagner returns to action next Saturday, October 15 when the Seahawks travel to Fairfield, CT for the Father O'Neil Invitational.
