GAME NOTES
Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's basketball team (8-9, 1-5 NEC) looks to even its overall record at 9-9 and are gunning for their second straight conference win by hosting Sacred Heart (10-7, 4-2 NEC) at the Spiro Sports Center.
Last time out, on Jan. 17, the Seahawks overcame an 11-point second-half deficit in running past homestanding St. Francis (NY) 73-59. Senior guard
Megan Mahoney (Staten Island, NY / St. Peter's) led the way with 20 points while senior forward
Ashley Olsen (Staten Island, NY/ Notre Dame Academy) and sophomore forward
Marie-Laurence Archambault (Montreal, Quebec/ Montmorency) tossed in 19 and 18 points, respectively.
Wagner has received balanced scoring all season and enters the Sacred Heart game as one of just two NEC teams (Robert Morris) to have four players averaging in double figures. The four Seahawks who are averaging 10 or more points are junior center
Kelly Clark (Neptune, NJ/ St. Rose) (13.5), Archambault (12.5), Mahoney (12.5) and Olsen (10.1).
These teams met back on Jan. 3 in Fairfield, CT and the Pioneers used a late rally to
pull away for a 70-52 victory. Clark led Wagner with 24 points but was the only Seahawk in double figures. Five different Pioneers scored 11 points in Callan, Taylor, Ericka Norman, Kiley Evans, Maggie Cosgrove and Blair Koniszewski.
This is the 25th all-time meeting between the schools and the Pioneers lead the series 17-7.
