Fredrickson Leads Wagner To Third-Place Finish At Monmouth XC Kick-Off

Buoyed by Taylor Fredrickson's (So., Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) 13th-place finish, the Wagner women's cross country team placed third in the 4K (2.5 mile) Monmouth XC Kick-Off at Thompson Park. Fredrickson finished in a time of 15:23.3, leading the way for the Seahawks in a talented field that featured 78 runners.

The University of Albany won with 21 points while Monmouth (39 points) took second. Wagner was third with 99 points. Seton Hall (101 points) and Long Island (132 points) rounded out the five-team Division I field.

Placing second on the team and 22nd overall was freshman Samantha Lauro (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) in a time of 15:55.2. Sophomore Kelly Dennis (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) was third on the squad and 33rd overall, finishing in 16:20.5.

Freshman Cameo Kirk (Ocean Port, NJ / Shore Regional) was 38th, finishing in 16:32.1 with sophomore Dominique Serpe (Staten Island, NY / Notre Dame Academy) rounding out the scorers for the Seahawks with a mark of 17:22.8, good for 55th.

“The girls had a very good first meet and headed in the right direction,” said 15th year head coach Joe Stasi.

Wagner is at the Fairfield Invitational on Saturday, September 11.
