Seahawks Finish Seventh At Mount Holyoke

Tournament Results

South Hadley, MA –
The Wagner College women's golf team opened up its fall season finishing seventh out of 13 schools at the 35th annual Mount Holyoke Invitational in South Hadley, Mass. Williams College took home the team victory, shooting a 304 and 311, for a 615 at the par 72, 5845 yard, Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass.

The Seahawks were led by Miko Page (Brooklyn, NY) who shot a two-round score of 160 to finish in the Top-15 at the event. Page opened up the tournament shooting a 10-over 82 on day one, before firing a team low 78 on Sunday, which placed her in a tie for 15th place out of the 76-golfer field.

Just outside of Page, Wagner freshman Ellen Huffman (Lima, OH) kicked off her collegiate playing career with a 36-hole score of 164 (84-80) to end in 25th place.

Senior Allison Amador (Middle Island, NY), who was a Top-15 golfer in the conference her sophomore season, was disappointed after her opening round of 91, which she followed up a seven-over 79 on Sunday.

“I am really proud of Allison,” said assistant coach Christopher Fourman. Two years ago, she finished top-15 in the conference, so we know she can play. She was displeased with her first day and she went out on Sunday and fired a great score.”

Wagner's Keri Muse (Sterling, VA) and Dena Smith (Highland Heights, OH) rounded out the five-player travel squad that helped the Seahawks to a score of 660 (337-323) on the weekend. Muse shot a two-round score of 173 (87-86), while Smith turned in a 178 (84-94).

“We have come a long way in just one year,” Fourman added. Last year, we finished this tournament in last place. This year, we had the third best score (323) on the second day, and we still have room to grow. I know our girls are not content with a seventh place finish and if the longer putts start to fall for us, we are going to do some damage in the conference.”

The Seahawks will compete next at the ECAC Championships beginning on October 2, in Egg Harbor, NJ.
