Fredrickson Picks Up First Career Win at Fairfield Invitational

Fairfield, CT. – Sophomore Taylor Fredrickson (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) picked up her first career win at the 5K Fairfield Invitational with a time of 19:44. Fredrickson crossed the finish line ahead of 33 other participants while the Seahawks recorded a second place finish out of two Division I teams represented.

Fairfield University earned top honors on the Stags' home course with six of their athletes finishing in the top-10 for a total of 26 points. Wagner finished as the runner-up to the home team with a second-place finish and a total of 36 points followed by University of New Haven (79 points) and University of Bridgeport (99 points).

Two rookies for the Green and White and former high school teammates were the second and third runners to cross the finish line for the Seahawks. Freshman Alexis Bivona (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) finished second for Wagner and fourth overall with a time of 19:53. Following closely in sixth place at the meet was freshman Samantha Lauro (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) with a time of 20:15.

Rounding out the scorers for the Green & White were sophomore Kelly Dennis (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) and freshman Cameo Kirk (Ocean Port, NJ / Shore Regional), who crossed the finish line in 20:57(13th) and 20:58 (14th) respectively.

The Seahawks are back in action Saturday, September 25 for the Ted Owen Invitational in New Britain, CT.
