Staten Island, NY –
The Wagner College men's basketball team squandered an eight-point halftime lead as Mount St. Mary's rallied for a 66-50 victory over the Seahawks.

With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 4-21 on the season, 2-10 in Northeast Conference play while the Mountaineers improve to 9-14 overall, 6-6 in the conference. With the win, the Mountaineers sweep the season series as the Mount defeated Wagner 69-44 in Emmitsburg, MD on Thursday night.
Wagner led most of the first half, pulling away with a late 7-2 burst to open a 27-19 halftime lead as junior center Clifton Spiller (Pleasantville, NJ/Holy Spirit) hit a 17-foot runner at the buzzer to forge the eight-point margin.

Wagner held the Mount's high-scoring backcourt duo of Jeremy Goode and Jean Cajou to a combined two points on 0-for-8 shooting from the floor in the first half. Spiller and junior guard T.J. Czeski (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) paced Wagner with six points apiece in the opening stanza. Will Holland led the Mount in the first half with seven points.

Wagner opened the second half cold from the field, connecting on just one basket over the first 6:40 of the half as the Mount started to gain control of the game. The Mountaineers opened the second half on a 13-3 roll to seize the lead for good on a jumper by Goode with 15:47 left to play.

The Seahawks hung tough for most of the second half and trailed by just six at 50-44 with 6:37 to go following a free throw by sophomore guard Chris Martin (Sicklerville, NJ/Apex Academies). But the Mountaineers finished the game with a flourish, outscoring Wagner 16-6 the rest of the way in fashioning the 16-point victory.

Wagner was led in scoring by Czeski and sophomore guard Tyler Murray (Toronto, Ontario/Eastern Commerce) who finished with 10 points apiece while Spiller added seven points and seven rebounds.
Goode scored 14 of his game-high 16 points in the second half to lead the Mount comeback while Raven Barber and Holland added 12 and 11 points, respectively. The Mount outshot Wagner 46 percent to 39 percent while out-rebounding the Seahawks by a 37-31 margin.

The Seahawks are next in action on Thursday, February 11 when they make the short trek to Fairleigh Dickinson to meet the Knights in a 7:30 pm tip-off that will be televised live on MSG.
