Wagner Women Look to Even Mark By Hosting Saint Peter's Tonight At 7:00 pm

The Green & White are looking to even its mark at 5-5 on the season by hosting Saint Peters College of the MAAC in a 7:00 pm tip-off. Wagner is coming off a heartbreaking 72-69 loss at UMass on Sunday as the Minutewomen overcame a 17-point halftime deficit.

Senior forward Ashley Olsen led four Seahawks in double figures with 16 points and 10 rebounds. It was Olsen's second double-double of the season and ninth of her career. Wagner is 2-2 at home on the season, havimg defeated Army and NJIT while losing to Colgate and Albany.

The Peahens won the meeting between the schools last year, besting the Seahawks by a 55-50 count on Dec. 21, 2009. Junior center Kelly Clark is No.1 in the NEC in field goal percentage at 61.4 percent and leads the team in scoring at 13.2 ppg. Sophomore Marie-Laurence Archambault and senior Megan Mahoney check in at 11.4 and 11.3 ppg., respectively. 

The Coaches - Head coach Gela Mikalauskas is in her 17th season on the Wagner sidelines with a record of 206-255 record. On the opposing sideline will be Stephanie DeWolfe who is in her seventh season at the helm of the Saint Peter's program.

The Series - Saint Peter's leads the all-time series between the schools 10-4.

Wagner Among NEC Leaders in Several Categories -
The Seahawks are No.1 in the NEC in field goal percentage (.409), three-point field goal percentage (.373) and assists (16.56).

Clark NEC's No.1 Shooter, 5th Nationally - Junior center Kelly Clark, enters the Saint Peter's game No. 1 in the NEC in field goal percentage at .613, a figure which ranks fifth in the nation.

Archambault 12th in Nation in 3-Pt. FG % - Sophomore Marie-Laurence Archambault is 12th in the nation in three-point FG % at .480.

Olsen on Tear of Late - In addition to her team-high 16 points at UMass, senior Ashley Olsen pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds and did not commit a single turnover while playing the entire 40 minute. For Olsen, it was her second double-double of the season and ninth of her career. Olsen has now scored in double figure in her last four games and is averaging team-best 15.5 points per game during this stretch

Clark's Career Game - Junior center Kelly Clark poured in a career-high 30 points to lead Wagner past NJIT (Dec. 7) 71-55. On the evening, the 6-3 Clark hit 13-of-18 field goals - both career highs. Clark's 30-point game marked the first time a Seahawk has hit the 30-point plateau since Mahoney had 31 at Saint Francis (PA) on January 4, 2010.

McBride Misses Second Straight with Knee Injury - Against UMass, for the second straight game, the Seahawks were without the services of senior guard Stephanie McBride who sustained a knee injury in practice prior to the Lehigh game back on Dec. 9.

Seahawks Short-handed vs. Lehigh - Wagner was missing two starters and only had eight players available vs. Lehigh (12/11). Starting junior guard Stephanie McBride was out due to a knee injury sustained in practice on Thursday while starting senior center Nyoto Patterson was in Georgia attending the funeral of her great grandmother. With McBride and Patterson unavailable, the Seahawks were actually minus five players that they anticipated having on the 2010-2011 roster. During the preseason, Wagner lost senior center Sha'Ron Harrison and junior guard Kanifa Hicks to ACL injuries while freshman guard Melanie Williamson has been sidelined all season by injury.

Seahawks Hit 27 Field Goals vs. UMass - Wagner's 27 made field goals at UMass are tied for second-most this season as the Seahawks made 30 shots from the field in an overtime loss to Colgate on Nov. 23.

Balanced Scoring - Wagner has three players averaging in double figures for the season in junior center Kelly Clark (13.2), sophomore forward Marie-Laurence Archambault. (11.4) and senior guard Megan Mahoney (11.3).

Mahoney Matches Career High in Assists Against UMass - Senior guard Megan Mahoney tied her career high by dishing out seven assists vs. the Minutewomen.

Season High Minutes for Seahawk Trio - Veronick Fournier logged a season-high 36 minutes at Lehigh (12/11) while Marie-Laurence Archambault and Brittney Thorpe logged season highs in minutes with 35 and 19, respectively.

McBride Career High in Assists at Quinnipiac - Senior guard Stephanie McBride dished out a career-high seven assists at Quinnipiac. Her previous career best was six.

MvBride Moving Up on All-Time 3-Point Record List - Senior guard Stephanie McBride is now in seventh place all-time at Wagner with 96 three-pointers made. Next on the list with 101 three-pointers made is Patti Winterfeldt (1990-94). McBride is now eighth in all-time three-pointers attempted with 296. Winterfeldt is next on that list as well with 310.

Next Up - Wagner will make the long trek to Hanover, NH to compete in Dartmouth's Big Sky Classic. On Dec. 29, the Seahawks will meet the Catamounts of Vermont in a 5:00 pm tussle. On Dec. 30, Wagner will face host Dartmouth in a 7:00 pm tilt.
