Seahawks Fall To Robert Morris 3-0

Box Score

Moon Township, PA – The Colonials exploded for three goals in the second half against the Seahawks, to give Robert Morris the Northeast Conference win by a score of 3-0. With the victory, the Colonials improve to 3-5-1 in NEC play, while Wagner drops to 2-5-2 as they head into their final game of the season.

From the opening kick the two teams battled, with each earning quality scoring chances in the opening minutes. Freshman goalkeeper Katie Marcy (Bellmore, NY) was tested in the 16th minute when a hard-angled shot by Jess Sharik forced the first-year to make a goal-saving stop.

Julie Vigliotti (Staten Island, NY) tried to take advantage of a Robert Morris giveaway just outside their own penalty area, but the sophomore's blast was corralled by Colonials keeper Jessica Olin.

Wagner's misfortune appeared again in the 38th minute when a shot from Whitney Prindible (Hockessin, DE) off a Seahawk corner kick rang off the crossbar to keep the game a scoreless tie through the first 45 minutes of play.

The Seahawks outshot Robert Morris 5-4 in the opening half, earning five corner kick opportunities to the Colonials two.

The tides turned in the favor of the home team in the second half, as the Colonials got on the board just seven minutes into the half. An odd man rush for Robert Morris gave Rachel Sebbens a 16-yard shot, which she arched over Marcy just inside the left post.

Disrupted by the goal, the Seahawks came right back with their two best chances of the half when a shot by Alyssa Grecco (Staten Island, NY) clanged off the corner of the post, with the rebound being volleyed just over the crossbar by Vigliotti.

Jackie Nicholas (Rockville Centre, NY) tried to keep the offensive momentum going after she was set loose on a breakaway, but Olin came up big to make the sliding save.

The next couple of minutes were all Colonials as Brianna Bell netted her first of the game in the 69th minute off a one-timed shot to the near post, and then scored again in the 71st minute on a head ball.

The three goal Colonial lead proved to be too much for the Seahawks, as Robert Morris earned the conference win outshooting Wagner 13-11.

The Seahawks will travel to Saint Francis (PA) to take on the Red Flash in their final game of the season. Start time for that match is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
