Sacred Heart Runs Past Wagner 75-59 Despite 19 Points, 10 Rebounds From Orock

Senior center Michael Orock (Hoboken, NJ/Hoboken) scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds but it was not enough as Wagner dropped a 75-59 decision to Sacred Heart. 

With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 2-14 on the season, 0-3 in Northeast Conference play while the Pioneers improve to 9-5 overall, 2-10 in NEC play. 

The game was close early as a jumper by junior guard #T.J. Czeski# (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) drew Wagner to within 17-16 with 10:29 left in the first half. Sacred Heart then responded with a 10-0 run to go up 27-16 with 7:50 to go in the half. 

A jumper in the lane by junior center Clifton Spiller (Pleasantville, NJ/Holy Spirit) made it a nine-point margin at 27-18. This marked the last time that Wagner was within single digits the rest of the game as Sacred Heart built the lead to 40-26 at halftime en route to the 16-point victory. 

Freshman forward Josh Thompson (Richland, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) added 10 points, four assists and four steals while sophomore guard Chris Martin (Sicklerville, NJ/Apex Academies) and freshman guard Danny Mundweiler (Overland Park, KS/Olathe East) chipped in with eight points apiece.
 
Wagner was largely undone by shooting just 2-of-18 from three-point range and being out-rebounded 45-32. Wagner out-shot Sacred Heart overall 42 percent to 41 percent. Both teams committed 19 turnovers. 

Ryan Litke led the Pioneers with 25 points on 7-of-14 shooting from three-point range while center Liam Porter and guard Corey Hassan added 13 and 12 points, respectively. 

Wagner is next in action on Saturday, Jan. 9 when the Seahawks play at Quinnipiac in a 2:00 pm start.
