ABOUT THE SEAHAWKS
In a game that featured 14 ties and 16 lead changes, the Wagner College men's basketball team suffered an excruciating 72-71 overtime loss at Brown. Tied at 62-62 after regulation, the Seahawks took a quick 65-62 lead in overtime when junior center Clifton Spiller (Pleasantville, NJ/Holy Spirit) made an old-fashioned
three-point play, sinking a layup followed by a free throw 31 seconds into OT. Wagner led 70-69 with the ball but the Seahawks turned it over with 11 seconds left. Brown Center Mike Mullery, following a timeout, hit a driving layup with five seconds left, which was Brown's first lead in OT. On Dec. 30, the Seahawks led
for most of the game at Princeton but squandered a 12-point second-half lead in absorbing a crushing 45-42 loss to the Tigers. The Seahawks turned in a solid defensive effort and senior center Michael Orock (Hoboken, NJ/Hoboken) had 19 points but it was not enough to stave off the Tigers. Despite their relatively close proximity to each other, Wagner had played Princeton just once in its history, dropping an 82-66 decision to the Tigers on Nov. 29, 1978 in a game that was also played at Jadwin Gymnasium. Two nights, earlier, the Seahawks dropped their second game of the season to NJIT, losing to the Highlanders by a 65-56 count at home. Prior to the NJIT game, Wagner completed its play in the HoopTV Las Vegas Classic with a 1-3 record.

ALL-TIME SERIES
In a series that began in the 1973-74 season, Wagner holds an all-time record of 12-10 vs. Sacred Heart. The Pioneers won the lone meeting played between these schools last year, outlasting the Seahawks 68-64 on Staten Island on Jan. 25, 2009.

His 432 wins entering the season ranked 24th among all active coaches. In his seventh season at Wagner, Deane is 92-100. Over the previous two seasons, Wagner's 39 wins are the second-most in the NEC behind only Robert Morris.
