Staten Island, NY – James Feldeine scored 21 points and Justin Rutty added 15 points and 10 rebounds as Quinnipiac pulled away late in posting a 66-57 victory.
Wagner stood toe to toe with first-place Quinnipiac before bowing as the Bobcats improve to 14-6 overall, 8-1 in the NEC. Wagner falls to 3-19 on the season, 1-8 in conference play.
Wagner built an early 13-7 lead punctuated by an alley-oop pass and dunk sophomore guard

Doug Elwell (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) and junior guard #T.J. Czeski# (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) knotted the game at 31-31. Quinnipiac then went on an 11-0 blitz to take its biggest lead of the game at 42-31. Rutty began the run with a free throw and Feldeine capped it with a driving layup.
Wagner then battled back, going on a 17-8 tear to draw to within two points on a three-pointer by freshman guard
Danny Mundweiler (Overland Park, KS/Olathe East) to make it a 50-48 game with 8:38 remaining. But that wass as close as the Seahawks would get the rest of the way. A Feldeine jumper followed by a three-pointer from Dave Johnson put the Bobcats up 55-48 with 7:43 to go.
Wagner hung tough and still had a chance late in the game as a pair of Mundweiler free throws with 2:16 left made it a 60-55 game before the Bobcats pulled away one final time in fashioning the nine-point victory.
Mundweiler led a balanced Seahawk attack with 10 points, while Czeski and Thompson chipped in with eight points each. Ten different Seahawks hit the scoring column, including freshman center
Ryan Schrotenboer (Fort Myers, FL/Bishop Verot) who tallied a career-hgh six points.
Wagner out-shot Quinnipiac 39 percent to 36 percent but the Bobcats enjoyed an overwhelming advantage at the free throw line as Quinnipiac made 24-of-33 free throw attempts while the Seahawks were just 6-of-11 from the charity stripe.
Wagner is next in action on Saturday when the Seahawks host Sacred Heart in a Noon start. The Wagner-Sacred Heart game is the NEC Game of the Week and will be televised live on MSG-TV.
NOTE – American League Rookie of the Year Andrew Bailey of the Oakland A's, a 2006 Wagner graduate, had his number 17 jersey retired during a halftime ceremony.
