Women Fall in First West Coast Competition

Redlands, CA – The Wagner College Water Polo team fell to 4-6 on the season with a 6-5 loss to the  Redlands University Bulldogs late last night. The game is their first of seven competitions scheduled to take place before March 21.

REDLANDS BOXSCORE

An early 3-0 Wagner lead slipped away as the Bulldogs tallied four unanswered goals with six minutes remaining in the third period to make the score 4-3.

Freshman Chelsea Beck (Reading, PA/Wilson) added her eighth goal of the season to tie the game at 4-4. Momentum shifted once again when the Seahawks fell behind 5-4, but it was freshman Lauren French (Colmar, PA/North Penn) who knotted the score at 5-5 with her seventh goal this spring.   A late Bulldogs' score with 2:30 remaining in the contest proved to be the game winner.

Junior goalie Kelsey Rodgers (Anaheim Hills, CA/Fullerton JC) finished with nine saves in net.

The Seahawks next contest is today at 5:00 PM (8:00 PM East Coast) against California State University, San Bernardino.
