FINAL STATS

Staten Island, NY –
Freshman guard Chris Martin (Sicklerville, NJ/ Apex Academies) poured in a career-high 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting from three-point range to lead Wagner to a convincing 75-58 NEC victory over Saint Francis (PA) in front of a raucous crowd of 1,921.

Fifth-year senior point guard Justin Drummond (Baltimore, MD/ McDonogh) delivered his first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 10 assists as Wagner snapped its six-game losing streak.

With the win, the Seahawks improve to 11-12 on the season, 4-9 in the NEC. With the loss, the Red Flash fall to 5-18 overall, 2-10 in league play.

The beginning part of the opening half was a see-saw, back-and-forth affair before Wagner took the lead for good on a jumper by redshirt sophomore guard T.J. Czeski (Amsterdam, NY/ Amsterdam) with 8:21 left in the half which gave the Seahawks a 22-21 lead. The Czeski jumper triggered a 16-2 Seahawk run that helped Wagner build a comfortable 42-30 halftime bulge.

Saint Francis (PA) would get as close as five points at 49-44 on a lay-up by Steve Profeta with 11:31 left in the game. But the Seahawks countered with a 9-2 run, capped by Drummond three-point jumper to build the lead back up to 12 at 58-46 with 7:24 left.

Martin's 20-point outing paced a balanced Wagner effort as senior forward Llew Radford (Newport News, VA/ Heritage) and fifth-year senior guard Joey Mundweiler (Olathe, KS/ Olate East) added 15 and 12 points, respectively. Sophomore center Clayfell Harris (London, England/Bridgton Academy) gained his third career start and responded with three quick buckets at the outset of the game in posting a career-high six points.

Saint Francis (PA) was led by Devin Sweetney who recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Cale Nelson added 12 points while Kurt Hoffman and Mislav Jukic chipped in with 10 points apiece.

The Seahawks matched their season high by dishing out 20 assists while recording a season-low eight turnovers.

Wagner finishes the regular season with four of its final games on the road, beginning with the final non-conference contest of the season at Bryant on Thursday, Feb. 12.

NOTES – Mundweiler finished 3-of-7 from beyond the arc and is now up to 277 career three-pointers made. Already the school record-holder in three-pointers made, Mundweiler's 277 career treys tie him for fourth on the NEC all-time three-point made list with Long Island's James Williams.
