GAME NOTES

Wagner looks to keep its hopes of qualifying for next month's NEC Tournament alive in a pivotal road game at Quinnipiac tonight at 7:00 pm.

The Matchup
The Seahawks are coming off a Senior Night send-off that could not have been scripted any better, as the Seahawks earned a hard-fought 62-59 win over first-place Robert Morris in front of an electric crowd of 1,635 at the Spiro Center. Fifth-year senior guard Joey Mundweiler led the way with 17 points on the strength of 4-of-9 three-point shooting. The win over the Colonials avenged a 104-56 road loss on Jan. 17, improved Wagner's record to 14-13 overall, and more importantly, catapulted the Seahawks back into the NEC Tournament picture as they now sit in an eighth-place tie with FDU at 6-10. The win came on the heels of a rousing 70-65 victory over second-place Mount St. Mary' in Thursday. . Fifth-year senior point guard Justin Drummond poured in a career-high 23 points while Mundweiler added 12. Redshirt sophomore guard T.J. Czeski tossed in a career-high nine points for the victors. Drummond converted the game-winning put-back against Robert Morris after snaring an offensive rebound off a missed free throw with 22seconds left to lift Wagner to a Senior Night victory over the Colonials. Tied with FDU for eighth place, the Seahawks are the only team in the conference to defeat both the Colonials and the Mount this season. The wins may come handy should tiebreakers be called into play to decide the final NEC playoff spots. Quinnipiac (13-14, 9-7) went 2-0 last week, winning a pair of games against FDU, 78-62 and LIU, 78-73, and sit in fifth place in the NEC. The clinched a berth in the NEC tournament. The Bobcats became the only NEC team to beat LIU on its home court this season, snapping the Blackbirds 10-game win streak. The NEC Co-Player of the Week Justin Rutty, a sophomore forward, averaged 18.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg on the week, and shot 68 percent (17-25) from the floor. Included in the double-double average was a 23-point, 16-rebound performance against the Blackbirds - Rutty's NEC-leading 11th double-double of the season and his third 20-point, 15-rebound output of 2008-09...Junior guard Jeremy Baker scored in double figures in both games, pouring in a career-high 20 pts. against FDU and adding 13 pts. at LIU.

A Wagner Win Would...
>Keep the Seahawks in the race for a berth in the NEC Tournament
>Improve the Seahawks' record to 15-13 overall
>Improve the Seahawks' NEC mark to 7-10
>Give the Seahawks three straight wins
>Give the Seahawks a split of the season series
