The Wagner College men's and women's basketball teams will make the short drive across the Verrazano Bridge for a doubleheader vs. the LIU Blackbirds with the women's game set for 2:00 pm with the men's game to follow at 4:00 pm.

The Wagner women are looking to end a four-game slide and are coming off a tough 72-66 home loss to FDU on Monday in a game that went right down to the wire. The Seahawks bring a record of 6-17, 2-11 in the NEC, into today's contest. LIU, meanwhile, is 7-16 on the year, 2-10 in league play and the Blackbirds have lost three straight.

Wagner will be seeking a sweep of the season series as the Seahawks eked out a 53-51 decision in the first meeting between these clubs on Jan. 10 on Staten Island. The Seahawks claimed the victory when junior guard Andrea Reed (Pokomoke City, MD/ Pocomoke) hit a jumper in the lane with 1.3 seconds left to play.

The Wagner men's team who, like the women are vying for a spot in the eight-team NEC Tournament next month, have rebounded from a six-game losing streak with victories over Saint Francis (PA) and Bryant. The two-game winning streak the Seahawks back to the .500 mark at 12-12 overall, 4-9 in NEC play. LIU brings an identical overall mark of 12-12 into today's fray, but the Blackbirds have been tough in NEC play, currently sitting in third place with an 8-5 conference record.

Fifth-year senior guard Joey Mundweiler (Olathe, KS/ Olathe) and freshman guard Chris Martin (Sicklerville, NJ/ Apex Academies) combined to hit 10 three-pointers in scoring 20 and 18 points, respectively in Thursday's 72-60 win at Bryant.

The Seahawks will be gunning for a split of the season series as the Blackbirds came away with a 76-61 win on Jan. 10 at the Spiro Center with junior guard Jaytormah Wisseh leading the way with 25 points and nine rebounds.
