Wagner and Bryant meet on the hardwood for the first time ever in the Seahawks' final non-conference game of the season. Wagner, 7-4 in non-conference play, snapped a six-game losing streak last Saturday with a rousing 75-58 win over Saint Francis (PA) in front of crowd of 1,921 fans and a regional audience watching on MSG in New York City and FoxSports in Pittsburgh. In Bryant,the Seahawks
will be facing a future NEC opponent as the Bulldogs will become full-fledged league members in fournyears.Bryant has proven it can compete vs. NEC teams already as the Bulldogs are riding a three-game winning streak, all over NEC foes. Overall, Bryant is 6-4 vs. NEC teams this season. Cecil Gresham, a 6-5 junior forward, is Bryant's leading scorer at 13.5 points, while Nick Pointes, a 6-6, 240-pound junior center, checks in at 8.5 points per game. Bryant is led by first-year head coach Tom O'Shea, a New England native and former Boston College assistant who compiled a record of 120-75 in seven seasons at Ohio University. Wagner, under the direction of sixth-year head coach Mike Deane,
went 1-1 last week in keeping its hopes alive of qualifying for next month's eight-team NEC Tournament. Deane has a mark of 85-85 at Wagner. The former head coach at Siena, Marquette and Lamar, Deane has a 25-year head-coaching record of 427-305. On Thursday, the Seahawks engineered a major rally, out-scoring Fairleigh Dickinson 16-0 over the final 10:07 of the regulation to force overtime. Wagner then built a five-point lead in the OT with less than two minutes to play before the Knights mounted a game-ending 7-0 run, capped by an NBA-length three-point jumper by Terence Grier at the buzzer. Chris Martin poured in a career-high 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting from three-point range in leading Wagner to a convincing 75-58 NEC victory over Saint Francis (PA) in front of a raucous crowd of 1,921 on Saturday. This performance came on the heels of a solid eight-point outing, on 2-of-5
shooting from downtown, in last Thursday's tough 59-57 overtime loss to Fairleigh Dickinson. For the week, the 6-0, 190-pound Martin averaged a team-high 14.0 point s on .556 (10-of-18) shooting from the field, highlighted by a sizzling .615 (8-of-13) percentage from three-point range. Martin tops the NEC n three-point shooting percentage at .456 (31-of-68).
