The
Staten Island Advance's online website silive.com recently held a reader's poll on the Top 10 sports stories of the year and the No.1 vote-getter was Wagner's football resurgence led by former Moore Catholic HS standout
Nick Doscher.
Doscher was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Offensive Rookie of the Year and First-Team All-NEC in guiding the Seahawks to a 6-5 record. The 6-2, 220-pound Doscher was named NEC Rookie of the week five times last season and was the league's Offensive Player of the Week once.
He led Wagner in both passing yards (1330) and rushing yards (769). He completed 58% of his passes and threw or eight TDs while rushing for 13 TDs. He topped the 100-yard rushing mark on four occasions and his 769 rushing records are a single-season record for a Seahawk quarterback.
