Smithfield, RI - The Wagner College women's soccer team finalized its 2009 season with a hard-fought 1-1 tie with Bryant University this afternoon. Junior
Briana Vassallo (Saddle Brook, NJ / Paramus Catholic) tallied her fifth goal of the season for the Seahawks, who improve to 3-13-3 overall and 1-7-2 in Northeast Conference play.
After a scoreless first half, Vassallo put the Seahawks on the board in the 58th minute off a header from freshman
Monica Zurich (Montvale, NJ / Pascack Hills), giving the Green & White a 1-0 advantage.
The Green & White would hold this lead for 12 minutes, until the Bulldogs' Holly Tyser netted a goal from the right side, bringing the game to a 1-1 tie.
After two overtime periods, neither team was able to convert another goal, ending the contest in a 1-1 draw.
The Bulldogs outshot the Seahawks by a 26-7 margin. Bryant also bested Wagner in corner Kicks 12-2.
Sophomore
Jen Emigholz (Staten Island, NY / Moore Catholic) went the entire 110 minutes in-between the pipes, recording six saves.
