Julie Vigliotti (Staten Island, NY / Notre Dame Academy) all tallied goals on Senior Day as the Wagner College women's soccer team blanked the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Highlanders this afternoon by a score of 3-0.
The Seahawks opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Wagner's goal leader, Vigliotti put the Green & White on the board with a shot from in front of the net. Assisting the freshman was junior
Briana Vassallo (Saddle Brook, NJ / Paramus Catholic) and Llewellyn.
In the 33rd minute, Bonura pushed Wagner's advantage to two with a goal from 17 yards out. Earning the assist on the play was freshman
Monica Zurich (Montvale, NJ / Pascack Hills), who now has two on the season.
The Seahawks tacked on their third and final goal in the 53rd minute of the game on Llewellyn's shot from 40 yards out.
Wagner (3-13-2) controlled the ball for the majority of the game, outshooting NJIT (7-7-2) by a 23-9 margin. The Green & White also bested the Highlanders in corner kicks 9-3.
Sophomore
Jen Emigholz (Staten Island, NY / Moore Catholic) earned her first career shutout , finishing with five saves.
Prior to the game the Green & White honored four of its seniors; Bonura,
Mallory Taaffe (Pine Bush, NY / Pine Bush),
Brooke Keany (Rumson, NJ / Rumson Fair-Haven) and
Megan Lasky (Freehold, NJ / Freehold Boro), for their dedication and perseverance throughout their careers.
Wagner finalizes its season on Sunday, November 1st when the Seahawks travel to Smithfield, RI to face Northeast Conference rival Bryant University.
