Rider Defeats Wagner 7-0

The Wagner men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Rider at the Wagner Tennis Courts. The Seahawks are now 0-4 while the Broncs improve to 2-5.

At first singles, freshman Taylor Santoro (Absecon, NJ / St. Augustine Prep) won his first collegiate set by a score of 6-3 before dropping the final two sets 6-3 and 6-1 to Greg Anastasio. At No. 2 singles, junior Yirmeyah Beckles (Cincinnati, OH / Aquinas College) put up a good fight before losing 6-3, 6-2 to Will Haight. In third flight singles, freshman Pierre Yuzon (Bakersfield, CA / Centennial) was handed a 6-3, 6-1 loss by Ryan Carpenter. Senior Zac Lewis (Colorado Springs, Co / Palmer) fared no better at No. 4 singles, dropping a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Marc Ashed. Classmate Scott Scriffignano (Morris Plains, NJ / Morristown) was blanked 6-0, 6-0 by Drew Laverty at No. 5 singles. Rounding out singles action, sophomore Nicholas Apicella (Peekskill, NY / Peekskill) lost a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Milo Milosovici.

Rider won all three doubles matches to claim the last remaining point.

The Green & White head to La Salle tomorrow for a 3:00 pm match.
