Wagner Soccer Ties Lafayette, 1-1

Easton, PA- The Wagner women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie with the Leopards of Lafayette (0-3-1) late this afternoon as neither team was able to find the back of the net during two overtime sessions. Following the deadlock, the Seahawks now have a record of 1-1-1 on the year.
Lafayette used a goal off a penalty kick in the 20th minute to take the lead 1-0. Two minutes later sophomore midfielder Jessica Balling (Seaford, NY/MacArthur) responded with a game-tying shot off a right foot blast to the left corner of the goal which put the Seahawks' on the board in the 22nd minute . Balling was assisted by senior midfielder Diane Gantenhammer (South Farmingdale, NY/ Farmingdale).
Last season, Balling led the Seahawks in goal with four.
As for the score sheet, Lafayette bested the Seahawks in the shots category (13-8) as well as corner kicks (5-3). Wagner finished with 10 fouls to Lafayette's 14.
Senior goalkeeper Leslie Reed (Indian Harbour Beach, FL/ Satellite) finished with four saves for the Green & White.
The Green & White will look for their second win of the young season this Wednesday when they travel to Newark, NJ to face the Highlanders of New Jersey Institute of Technology. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
