Lincroft, NJ – The Wagner women's cross country team finished third at the Monmouth University Cross Country Kick-Off in the opening meet of the 2008 season.

Senior Brecken Drager (Loomis, CA/Del Oro) kept the pace with a third place finish in 14:59. The Seahawks' only women's First-Team All-Northeast Conference (NEC) performer in 2007 trailed Albany's Laura Cummings (1st - 14:36) and Monmouth's Caitlin Lynam (2nd – 14:48).

Following Drager was graduate student Samantha Snukis (St. Clair, PA/Nativity BVM) who turned her success on the track, where she qualified for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships in 800m last year, into a 15th place finish on the Thompson Park course, clocking in at 15:48.

Senior Ashley Mallen (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) brought home 21st with a time of 16:31 while junior Jenna Naglieri (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) placed 25th in 16:43.  Rounding out the Seahawks' performances were senior Ryan Rogers (Islip, NY/Islip) (45th – 18:15) and junior Nicole Panik (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa ) (49th – 19:15).

The Green & White are back in action September 19 in the Monmouth Invitational at Holmdel Park in Holmdel, NJ.
