Staten Island, NY – The Wagner women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Lafayette at the Wagner Tennis Courts. With the loss the Seahawks are now 0-2 while the Leopards improve to 1-0.
At first doubles the senior duo of
Brittany Frazza (West Caldwell, NJ / Morris Catholic) and
Emily Boyd (Stratham, NH / Exeter Area) dropped a gut-wrenching 8-7 (7-0 tiebreaker) decision to Ansley Scudder and Sarah Sykes. Lafayette would go on to capture the doubles' point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
In singles' play, Frazza lost 6-3, 6-1 to Allie Seranko at No. 1 singles. Boyd fared no better at No. 2 singles, falling to Scudder 6-1, 6-1. Sykes won at No. 3 singles, shutting out freshman
Britta Olsen (Hallowell, ME / Hall-Dale) 6-0, 6-0. At fourth singles, sophomore
Joanna Ciavarella (Brooklyn, NY / Fontbone Academy) lost to Rachel Rohinsky 6-0, 6-1. Freshman
Sabrina DiLeo (Staten Island, NY / Notre Dame Academy) was shut out 6-0, 6-0 by Nancy Parker at the five-spot. Rounding out singles-play was freshman
Allison Argust (East Greenbush, NY / Averill Park), who was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Caitlin Gordon.
