Seahawks at Stony Brook, Sat. at 2:00 pm in Search of Second Straight Win

GAME NOTES 

The Wagner College Seahawks (1-1) and the Stony Brook University Seawolves (1-1) will meet at Pritchard Gymnasium at 2:00 pm as the Seahawks are in search of their second straight win following Wednesday night's 59-44 victory over Saint Peter's. 

THE MATCHUP...
The Wagner College Seahawks (1-1) and the Stony Brook University Seawolves (1-1) clash for fifth time ever in a Saturday matinee at Pritchard Gymnasium. The Seawolves lead the series, which began during the 1973-74 season, 3-1. The most recent meeting between the schools was during the 2005-06 season when the Seahawks came away with a 67-54 victory. Wagner is fresh off a 59-44 home win over Saint Peter's on Nov. 19 which squared its record at 1-1. In the season opener on Nov. 14, the Seahawks were upended 73-67. The first road game of the 2008-09 season comes against a Stony Brook team that owns a 60-44 home win over Maryland-Eastern Shore and an 80-71 road defeat at Lafayette.

THE COACHES...
Wagner College head coach Mike Deane enters his 25th season as a head coach and his sixth as the head man of the Seahawks. He holds an overall coaching mark of 417-294, having eclipsed the 400-win plateau last season. His 416 wins entering the season ranked him 27th among all active coaches. In his five seasons at Wagner, Deane is 75-74, having guided Wagner to a 23-8 record last season, setting the school-record for winsin a season. Steve Pikiell enters his fourth year at the helm of the Seawolves basketball program and has a 20-68 record at Stony Brook. Charged with building a program that made the jump from Division III to Division I in 1999, Pikiell has elevated the Seawolves basketball program in just three short seasons. In 2007-08, Pikiell guided Stony Brook to victories over defending conference champion Vermont and Long Island rival Hofstra in addition to leading SBU to its first postseason victory since 2004.

ALL-TIME VS. AMERICA EAST...
The Seahawks hold an all-time record of 18-15 vs. teams that are currently members of America East. The only America East teams that Wagner has never faced are Binghamton and Hartford.
