Seahawks Dominate St. Francis (NY) 6-1

The Wagner Seahawks picked up their first win of the year in decisive fashion against St. Francis (NY) by a 6-1 score at the Wagner Tennis Courts on Saturday.

Senior Brittany Frazza (West Caldwell, NJ / Morris Catholic) won her third-straight at No. 1 singles by a 6-1, 6-2 count over Arianne Van Sluytman. Freshman Britta Olsen (Hallowell, ME / Hall-Dale) rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Shakaya Slay at No. 3 singles. Junior Valerie LeCureux (Jamison, PA / Central Bucks East) shut out Angel Lawrence 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. At the five-spot, sophomore Joanna Ciavarella (Brooklyn, NY / Fontbone Academy) blanked Renee Warner 6-0, 6-0 and freshman Sabrina DiLeo (Staten Island, NY / Notre Dame Academy) concluded singles' play with a 6-0, 6-0 win of her own at No. 6 singles against Shimiere Douglas.

The Seahawks swept their way to the doubles' point winning all three matches.

Wagner then lost to Rider on Sunday in Lawrenceville, NJ by a 6-1 count. LeCureux picked up the Seahawks' lone win of the afternoon by a 6-3, 6-2 score against Danielle White at No. 4 singles.

The Seahawks are now 1-6 and 1-2 in the NEC.

Wagner concludes its fall season with a 2 pm match against Saint Peter's on Saturday, Oct. 25.
