Ocean, NJ – The Wagner Seahawks (0-3) dropped its Northeast Conference (NEC) opener to the Monmouth Hawks (3-4; 3-1 NEC) by a 7-0 score.

Senior Brittany Frazza (West Caldwell, NJ / Morris Catholic) lost 7-6 (3-0), 6-2 to Kristen Hoffmann at No. 1 singles. At second-flite singles, classmate Emily Boyd (Stratham, NH / Exeter Area) was shut out by Kaitlin Gallagher 6-0, 6-0. Katie Tierney defeated freshman Britta Olsen (Hallowell, ME / Hall-Dale) at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Sophomore Joanna Ciavarella (Brooklyn, NY / Fontbone Academy) fared no better at No. 4 singles, losing to Jessica Slinger 6-0, 6-0. At the five-spot, freshman Sabrina DiLeo (Staten Island, NY / Notre Dame Academy) was also shut out, losing 6-0, 6-0 to Kelly Friedrich. Rounding out singles play, classmate Hope Ndoci (Enfield, CT / Fermi) was blanked 6-0, 6-0 by Britney DuPuis.

Monmouth swept its way to the doubles' point, winning all three matches.
