Jessica Balling (Seaford, NY/ Mac Arthur) and
Briana Vassallo (Saddle Brook, NJ/ Paramus Catholic), tallied a goal apiece as the Wagner College women's soccer team battled to a 2-2 tie vs. the Pioneers of Sacred Heart this afternoon at sunny Campus Field.
Both teams fought back-and-forth at the outset of the contest. The game was scoreless until the 44th minute when Sacred Heart broke the deadlock as Leigh Dogmanits received a centering pass and deposited a goal off a header from.
Sacred Heart's 1-0 lead was short-lived as Balling responded 10 seconds later with a header of her own off a centering pass from sophomore
Catherin Del Medico (Park Ridge, IL/ Maine South), knotting the game at 1-1.
The Seahawks came out in the second half aggressively as Vassallo put Wagner up by one in the 47th minute, 2-1, with the assist going to junior
Dominique Bonura (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ/ Immaculate Heart Academy).
This goal held for the majority of the game until Dogmanits scored her second goal of the game in the 78th minute, tying the match at 2-2.
After two scoreless overtime sessions, the game ended in a draw. The Seahawks move their record to 2-7-4, 0-2-1 in the NEC while the Pioneers are now 1-10-2, 0-2-1 in NEC play.

Sam Schueschner (Brookfield, CT/ Brookfield) went the entire 110 minutes between the posts, recording five saves.
Statistically, Sacred Heart bested Wagner in the shots category, 17-8. The Pioneers led in corner kicks, 8-4.
Wagner returns to action Friday October, 17 when the Seahawks host Central Connecticut State University. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
