Luke Murray

Luke Murray is in his first season as an assistant basketball coach at Wagner.

Murray arrives at Wagner after serving one season an assistant at the University of Arizona.

Prior to his one year there, Murray spent the 2008-2009 season as an assistant coach at Post University in Waterbury, CT, where he helped the Eagles to a 17-10 record. While a member of the NCAA Division II institution’s coaching staff, Murray’s responsibilities included recruiting, practice planning, scheduling and travel.

No stranger to the Northeast Conference (NEC), Murray served one season as the men’s basketball operations intern at Quinnipiac University during the 2007-2008 season. The first to hold the position at that school, his duties with the program included film exchange, coordinating team travel and on-campus recruiting.

Murray has extensive AAU coaching experience with several 17- and 16-and under basketball programs, including the New England Playaz and the New York Gauchos. Several athletes who played for Murray have gone on to play at prominent NCAA Division I programs, including Boston College, Connecticut, Memphis, Michigan, Seton Hall and West Virginia.

“Luke Murray is a great addition to our staff,” said Dan Hurley. “I think he’s a rising star in the profession who has experience in the Northeast Conference and brings strong recruiting ties in the area.”

Murray is a 2007 graduate of Fairfield University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He attended St. Luke’s High School in New Canaan, Conn., where he was a two-sport athlete in football and basketball. Murray returned to serve as an assistant boys’ basketball coach at his alma mater, leading the team to the 2004-2005 New England Class D Championship.
