Freshman Emily Pereira (Howell, NJ / Freehold Township) is the May Female Student-Athlete of the Month. The highlight of Pereira's month came when she earned a spot on the All-Northeast Conference (NEC) Second Team after leading the Seahawks with a team-best 11.5 points at the 2012 NEC Outdoor Women's Track & Field Championships held at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD. Pereira’s performance at the NEC Championships was highlighted by a second-place finish in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:14.68 as she copped her first conference accolade. She then clinched the Green & White's second All-NEC Second Team citation by running the anchor leg of the 3200-meter relay, as Wagner placed second with a time of 9:18.62, outdistancing Quinnipiac by just over a second. Joining Emily Pereira on the All-NEC Second Team 3200-meter relay team were sophomores Samantha Lauro (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa) and Alexis Bivona (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa), along with Emily’s twin sister Kelly Pereira (Howell, NJ / Freehold Township), who ran the third leg before handing the baton to Emily Pereira, the team’s anchor. Emily Pereira also garnered a spot on the 2012 NEC Outdoor Women's All-Rookie Team and narrowly missed a third conference award as she ran a leg of the Seahawks' 1600-meter relay team that placed third. Nicole Cooper (Sicklerville, NJ / Washington Township) joined Pereira on the All-Rookie Team, leaping 35-8 in the triple jump.
