Wagner College Athletics

James Sheeley was named Wagner College’s Director of Athletic Bands in August 2026.

Sheeley takes the helm with 46 years of experience in education, working in administration in addition to his time as band director. On the performance side, Sheeley brings marching, concert and jazz band experience on the local, regional and national level.

Serving as the Music Director of the Whitehouse Wind Symphony for 15 years, Sheeley performs in 15 concerts annually as a trombonist. He has performed at the John F. Kennedy Center, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Symphony Hall and many local churches as a brass quarter member.

He served as both CEO and Chief School Administrator for New Jersey Approved Private Schools for Students with Disabilities. Alongside that educational experience, Sheeley has also adjudicated for USBands, Cavalcade of Bands and the New York Field Band Conference for 27 years.
